Dish Network & Sky Angel Digital Satellite Systems

The DISH Network is available now to private homes. Now you can get all of your favorite TV programs even if they’re unavailable through your local cable system simply by installing a tiny 18 inch satellite dish and receiver that connects you to the DISH(SM) Network.

ECHOSTAR'S: The DISH(SM) Network The DISH Network is a Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) service that brings TV 24 hours a day and other quality programming into your home through a compact 18" satellite dish. Provided by Echostar, one of the world’s largest suppliers of satellite dishes, the DISH Network is ideal for people who do not have access to cable or whose local cable systems do not carry TV.

Programming The DISH Network will carry over 65 of the most popular cable channels available including TV, CNN, ESPN, CNBC, Headline News, LIFETIME, SCI-FI, TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, Learning Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, A&E, Discovery, Weather Channel, CSPAN, Home and Garden, CMT, and TNN. By Fall 1996, the Network plans to launch a second satellite, expanding its program capacity to over 200 audio and video channels. The DISH Network provides the added benefit of individualized control capability. With the DISH Network, parents can actually lock out entire channels and individual shows based on their rating and content.

Major Networks If you live in an area that cannot be reached by a local broadcast affiliate, the DISH Network offers a package of ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS and FOX stations from around the country. Otherwise, you can tune in major networks available in your area simply by connecting your own antenna or basic cable service to an A/B switch built-in to the satellite receiver.

Equipment The Echostar Receivers works with all TVs regardless of their age. All you need in order to receive the network is the 18" dish and down converter. DBS equipment supplied by other vendors will not receive TV. With the purchase of your equipment, you will receive a remote control that will change channels and adjust volume. However, compatibility with “universal remote controls” will depend on the universal remote manufacturer. The DISH Network receiving system is covered by a standard warranty from the time the system is activated.

Monthly Fees The monthly programming fee for the DISH Network is at cable buster prices. Premium channels such as HBO and pay per view are available for an additional fee.

Installation Your 18” satellite dish can be installed on either your roof or your windowsill as long as its location has an unobstructed view of the southern sky. If you buy a dish, but find that you don’t have the line of sight required, you’ll receive a full refund provided the dish is returned in good condition. Our Installation Kit has all the components you'll need for self-install, or you may choose professional installation at a reasonable price.

Multiple TV Sets Options are available that may service up to two TV sets if both sets are tuned to the same channel. To watch different channels, you can simply tune one TV to the DISH Network and use the A/B switch to tune the other to a channel from your antenna source (an off-the-air antenna or basic cable service). The same applies to VCRs and some picture-in-picture TVs. If you wish to watch different programs on two different TVs, you will need an additional receiver and a dual LNBF. There will also be a modest monthly fee for the second television set .

Availability The DISH Network is available now to private homes, institutions, condominiums and apartment buildings. If you community covenants prohibit satellite dishes, we would be glad to send you information that might help you persuade your neighborhood association to modify its covenants. New FCC rulings may override your neighborhood covenants. Call us for details!
